Hiawassee Bank Robbery
HIAWASSE – The GBI and the Hiawassee Police Department are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man believed to be responsible for several of the recent bank robberies in Northeast Georgia. The most recent robbery occurred yesterday shortly after 3 p.m. at the Stephens Federal Bank in Hiawassee.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’9”-6’0” in height, slight build, brown hair and hazel eyes, wearing a camouflage baseball cap and a camouflage long-sleeved, pullover shirt. The suspect fled the scene in a small, 1996 or 1997, white, 2-door Chevrolet Cavalier with black front and rear bumpers. The driver of this vehicle was a white female who remained in the car during the robbery.
