Police Raid Two Illegal Drinking Establishments in Unadilla
UNADILLA - The Dooly County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Department of Revenue, the Georgia State Patrol, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation executed search warrants this weekend at two illegal drinking establishments in Unadilla following citizen complaints of unruly behavior associated with the businesses. Two persons were charged with illegal alcohol sales and a substantial amount of alcoholic beverages were seized. Other arrests are possible.
The raids, which began late Saturday night and concluded early Sunday morning, were part of an increased county and state law enforcement presence in Unadilla following the closing of the city’s police department in May. The businesses raided were the “Lounge 300,” 741 East Third Street and the “Rib Shack", also known as the “Trailer Club,” 390 Carey Street. Neither had alcohol sale licenses and both were known to attract late-night partiers from surrounding counties after legal drinking establishments had closed.
During with the raids, Dooly County Sheriff’s deputies and GSP troopers also conducted concentrated patrols in an around Unadilla resulting in the arrests of two persons for marijuana possession. Probation officers from the Georgia Department of Corrections assisted in the operation.
Dooly County and state law enforcement officers will continue to emphasize crime suppression in Unadilla until permanent local police services are established.
