GBI's Human Trafficking Unit Locates Teenage Tennessee Girl
DECATUR, Georgia The GBIs Human Trafficking Unit (HTU) received information from the Nashville, Tennessee Police Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation that they had received information that led them to believe that a 16-year-old female juvenile runaway from Tennessee was located in the Atlanta area and was working as a prostitute. They asked for GBI assistance in attempting to recover the juvenile, who is a ward of the state of Tennessee. There was a hold notice placed in NCIC in case the juvenile was located.
Working with the GBI Intelligence Unit, and through the HTUs own investigation, HTU was able to verify the juvenile was being prostituted from a location in Clayton County. An undercover operation on Thursday led to the recovery of this juvenile at a motel in Clayton County. Assistance in the recovery and investigation was provided by ICE/Department of Homeland Security and the Clayton County Police Department. After authorities entered the hotel room she was operating from and had been there a few minutes, her phone began to ring. When she was not allowed to answer it, an unknown man came to her room door. He was eventually identified and it was determined that there was an active warrant out for the arrest on unrelated charges. While being taken into custody for this charge, he became combative and had to be forcibly taken into custody. This led to three additional charges being placed against him by the Clayton County Police Department. Those charges are simple battery on a law enforcement officer, obstruction and terroristic threats. He is identified as Huie Herosheio Pollard, 26, of Jonesboro, Ga.
HTU agents were able to confirm from motel records that the juvenile had been at the recovery location for slightly over 30 days. The juvenile was taken to the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center pending transport back to Tennessee. A hearing was held Friday morning in Clayton County, and she waived extradition to Tennessee.
Pollard was taken to the Clayton County jail. Other charges are possible against Pollard pending further investigation by HTU.
