Manner of Death of Teen in Jefferson Determined to be Homicide
Jefferson, GA – The results of an autopsy examination show the death of Cheyanne N. Hair, 16, to be homicide. The cause of death is not being released at this time because the investigation is active. Ms. Hair died on Wednesday, December 4 at Athens Regional Medical Center after being transported from 1127 Winder Highway in Jefferson. A 911 call was received requesting medical services at the Winder Highway residence.
Jefferson Police Department initially responded to the Winder Highway location to work the murder investigation. Jefferson Police requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) assist with the investigation. It was later determined the location was actually in the jurisdiction of Jackson County therefore the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office assumed control of the investigation, continuing to utilize the assistance of the GBI. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI are actively following up on leads in the murder investigation of Ms. Hair.
