Sumter County Deputy Arrested on Drug Charges
Americus, GA – On Monday, April 21, 2014, William David Graham, 51, was arrested and charged with one count of Possession of Cocaine (felony), one count of Possession of Marijuana (misdemeanor), one count of Possession of Drug Related Objects (misdemeanor), and one count of Violation of Oath by Public Officer (felony). Graham was arrested in Americus, Georgia without incident.
On Friday, April 11, 2014, the GBI office in Americus, Georgia was requested by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department to conduct the investigation after controlled substances were discovered in Graham’s bedroom at his residence. The controlled substances were discovered during a search of the residence in an unrelated investigation which was being conducted by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department. Graham has been employed as a Deputy with Sumter County since 2005.
Court proceedings are pending in this case and therefore no other information can be released at this time.
