Thomson, GA. – On December 20, 2014, at approximately 11:00 PM, the GBI was requested to assist the Thomson Police Department with a homicide investigation that occurred at a residence in the 500 block of Shadowmoor Circle. At approximately 10:36 PM, officers with the Thomson Police Department were dispatched to the Shadowmoor Circle residence and discovered that Jonathan Gurley, 28 years old, had been shot. Gurley was transported to University McDuffie Hospital where he later died.  The GBI Region 7 Field Office responded and began conducting an investigation.   

Gurley’s body was transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, GA where an autopsy will be performed at a later time. The investigation is ongoing. Upon completion the case will be turned over to the Toombs Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
