GBI Investigates Officer Involved Shooting in College Park, GA
College Park, GA (June 10, 2018) – On Sunday, June 10, 2018, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was requested by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) to investigate an officer involved shooting.
Preliminary information from Fulton County authorities indicates that two FCSO deputies were working an off - duty part time job at the Cozumel Mexican Cantina located at 5058 Old National Highway College Park, GA. An altercation ensued with several patrons of the cantina in the parking lot. The subject fired at least two shots at additional patrons. During the altercation, a deputy and a security guard fired their weapons. The subject was struck and taken into custody. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
A female not involved with the incident was also shot and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
No officers were injured during this incident.
Charges against the subject will be taken by College Park Police Department.
The GBI will continue its independent investigation. Once complete, it will be turned over to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office for review.
