GBI Investigates Aggravated Assault in Butler, GA
Butler, GA - On Saturday, July 6, 2018, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Butler Police Department to conduct an aggravated assault investigation that took place at a residence located on Oak Street.
Preliminary information revealed at approximately 4:55 p.m., officers responded to the residence after receiving a 911 call regarding a domestic incident. Raymond Gibson, 43, confronted Edwin Kruse, 54, outside his former wife’s residence. Raymond Gibson shot Kruse in his abdomen and leg. Additionally, Raymond Gibson assaulted Kruse with a baseball bat. Raymond Gibson also assaulted his former wife, Christal Gibson, 36, with the baseball bat.
Kruse was transported to the Macon Medical Center by helicopter where he underwent surgery for his injuries. Kruse survived the shooting. Christal Gibson was also transported to Macon Medical Center for a broken arm and contusions to her hips and legs.
Raymond Gibson was located and arrested without incident. Currently, Raymond Gibson is charged with Aggravated Assault; however, additional charges are anticipated. Raymond Gibson is being held in the Taylor County Jail. Once the investigation is completed, it will be turned over to the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit DA’s Office for prosecution.
