Eastman, GA Death Investigation
Eastman, GA (7/30/18) – On Monday, July 30, 2018, the GBI arrested Doug Sheriff, age 48, of Eastman, GA for one count of Arson.
On Saturday morning, July 28, 2018, a white BMW belonging to Doug Sheriff was found burned off the Dublin Highway (State Hwy. 117) in Dodge County near Eastman. The car was located under the Gum Swamp Creek bridge off Hwy. 117. It was located when a passing motorist smelled a burnt odor and notified authorities. Inside of the car were the burned remains of Sheriff’s girlfriend, Michelle Bazemore, age 50. Sheriff was taken into custody Saturday at the GBI office in Eastman and transported to the Dodge County jail.
A cause and manner of death are pending further investigation by the Medical Examiner and investigators.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the GBI are conducting this joint investigation. The case remains active and ongoing.
