Demorest, GA (April 26, 2019) – On Friday, April 26, 2019, the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to assist in a homicide investigation which occurred at the residence located at 2880 Highway 115, Demorest,  Habersham County, Georgia. The investigation revealed that Dennis Wayne Taylor, 53, contacted Habersham County 911 around 2:30 am and reported that his brother, Donnie Mitchell Taylor, 47, was deceased at the residence they share. Upon arrival to the residence, Habersham County Sheriff’s Deputies found Donnie Taylor deceased from a wound caused by a sharp edged instrument. After further investigation, Dennis Taylor was arrested and charged with the murder of his brother. 

The body of Donnie Taylor was transported the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy. Dennis Taylor was booked into the Habersham County Jail where he awaits court proceedings.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. Once complete, the investigation will be provided to the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
