Dearing, GA (May 3, 2019) – On Friday, May 3, 2019, at approximately 6:50 A.M., the McDuffie County 911 Center received a call regarding a subject being struck by a vehicle at a residence in the 3000 block of Ellington Airline Road in Dearing, Georgia. Responding deputies learned that Billy D. Gant, 58, had been struck by a vehicle driven by Janice M. Gant, 55, at the residence. Billy Gant was pronounced dead at the scene.

The GBI was requested to assist with the investigation and preliminary information revealed that Billy and Janice Gant reside at the Ellington Airline residence and were involved in a domestic dispute during the time that Billy Gant was struck by the vehicle. Janice Gant has been charged with one count of Voluntary Manslaughter and is being held at the McDuffie County Detention Center.

Billy Gant’s body will be transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur, GA where an autopsy will be performed. The investigation is ongoing.
