GBI Arrests Former Jones County Sheriff’s Deputy
On Thursday, June 13, 2019, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents arrested former Jones County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Dee Thompson, age 48, for False Statements and Violation of Oath of Office.
On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Stephen Bradley requested that the GBI investigate allegations of inappropriate supervision by Thompson of a confidential informant. As a result of the GBI investigation, Thompson was arrested and booked into the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office without incident and is currently being housed at the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
The GBI will continue its thorough investigation and upon completion will turn the completed case file over to the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
