Update (October 7, 2019) - Santana Joyner, age 16, of Lumber City GA, died as a result of a gunshot wound he sustained during the attempted armed robbery that occurred October 3, 2019. Joyner was being investigated as a subject in the armed robbery. Any additional charging decisions regarding Ulysses McMillan and LaKyle Harris will not be made until after the District Attorney has an opportunity to conduct a full review of the investigative findings. This investigation is still active and ongoing.

Lumber City, GA (October 4, 2019) – On October 4, 2019, the GBI arrested Ulysses McMillan, 19, and LaKyle Harris, 19, in connection with a shooting that occurred on October 3, 2019. Both men are charged with aggravated assault and attempted armed robbery.

On October 3, 2019, at approximately 10:50 pm, the GBI Eastman office was requested to assist the Lumber City Police Department with a shooting investigation. After arriving on scene at 7 Morse Street, Lumber City, GA, the investigation revealed an attempted armed robbery occurred at the residence. The homeowner confronted the intruders and as a result one person was shot. The identity of the injured individual is being withheld due to being a juvenile. The juvenile is currently listed in critical condition.
