Fulton County Man Arrested for the Sexual Exploitation of Children
Atlanta, GA (October 12, 2023) – On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes (CEACC) Unit arrested and charged David Michael, age 38, of Atlanta, Georgia, with Sexual Exploitation of Children – Obscene Internet Contact with a Child.
The GBI CEACC Unit, the host agency for the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children’s (ICAC) Task Force, initiated an investigation into Michael’s internet activity, after receiving a Cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). This report alleged that Michael was communicating online with a minor in a sexually explicit manner. Michael was interviewed by GBI agents and, as a result, he was arrested and taken into custody at the Fulton County Jail.
The GBI was assisted in this case by the Georgia Tech Police Department.
This investigation is part of the ongoing effort by the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, housed within the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit, to identify those involved in the child pornography trade. The ICAC Program, created by the U.S. Department of Justice, was developed in response to the increasing number of children and teenagers using the Internet, the proliferation of child sexual abuse material, and the heightened online activity by predators searching for unsupervised contact with underage victims.
Anyone with information about other cases of child exploitation is asked to contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Unit at 404-270-8870 or report via the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTipline at CyberTipline.org.
