GBI Makes Arrest in Dublin Homicide Investigation

Dublin, Georgia (November 16, 2023) – On Monday, November 13, 2023, the GBI arrested and charged Kenneth Jurell Kates, age 43, of Dublin, GA, with one count of murder in connection to the death of Tyronda Bashun Hall. The Dublin Police Department requested the GBI to assist with the investigation.  

On Thursday, November 9, 2023, at around 10:25 a.m., the Dublin Police Department was dispatched to an apartment on Kingsby Street, Dublin, Laurens County, GA in reference to a homicide investigation. Dublin Police Department officers discovered Hall dead inside the apartment with a gunshot wound. Kates was the tenant of the apartment, and Kates and Hall were neighbors and acquaintances.   

Kates was booked into the Laurens County Detention Center.    

This was a joint investigation with the GBI and the Dublin Police Department.  The case will be prosecuted by the Dublin District Attorney’s Office.
