GBI Arrests Waycross Man in Death Investigation

Waycross, GA (May 29, 2024) – The GBI has arrested and charged Austin Pittman, age 19, of Waycross, Georgia, with Felony Involuntary Manslaughter and Misdemeanor Reckless Conduct in connection to the death of 18-year-old Landon Bashlor, of Waycross, GA. On Sunday, May 26, 2024, the Ware County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to investigate.  

The investigation shows that Pittman recklessly interacted with the firearm, which caused the firearm to discharge, killing Bashlor. Someone called 911 and indicated that Bashlor was shot inside a car in the 3400 block of Albany Highway in Waycross. Deputies responded and found him dead in the car.

A GBI Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy.
