Brooks County Man Arrested in Homicide Investigation

Quitman, Georgia (June 17, 2024) - The GBI has arrested and charged Nathaniel Brinson, age 65, of Dixie, Georgia, with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. On Saturday, June 15, 2024, around 10:50 p.m., the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI to assist with an investigation into the death of Linda Cross, age 60, of Dixie, Georgia.  

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at an address in the 500 block of Prince Road in Dixie, Georgia. Cross was found at the scene with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead.  

Brinson was booked into the Brooks County Jail.  

An autopsy will be performed on Cross by the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the cause and manner of death.
