GBI Investigates Death in Lanier County
UPDATE :
Lakeland, GA (June 26, 2024) – The GBI has arrested Tommy Manning, age 17, of Lakeland, GA, J’mari Gates, age 16, of Lakeland, GA, Keamon Grant, age 16, of Lakeland, GA, and Kavion Brown, age 16, of Lakeland, GA, in connection to the homicide of Timothy Hunt.
The GBI charged Manning, Gates, and Grant with four counts of Party to the Crime of Murder, four counts of Party to the Crime of Aggravated Assault, Party to the Crime of Armed Robbery, and Violations of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. The GBI charged Brown with Party to the Crime of Aggravated Assault, Party to the Crime of Armed Robbery, and Violations of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.
All 4 were booked at the Lanier County Sheriff’s Office. Manning is being housed in the Coffee County Jail, Gates is at the Savannah Youth Detention Center, and Grant and Brown are at the Waycross Youth Detention Center.
The GBI would like to thank the Lakeland Police Department, Lanier County Sheriff’s Office, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, and Georgia State Patrol for their assistance.

Lakeland, GA (June 5, 2024) – At the request of the Lakeland Police Department, GBI agents are investigating the death of Timothy Hunt, age 27, of Naylor, Georgia.
On Sunday, June 2, 2024, Hunt was shot and killed at a home on Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Lakeland, Lanier County, Georgia.
A GBI Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy.
No arrests have been made at this time, but the investigation is active and ongoing.
