GBI Investigates Shooting in Metter, GA

UPDATE – March 10, 2025:

The GBI has arrested and charged James Bryant, age 44 of Sylvania, GA, with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon in connection with this shooting.

The Port Wentworth Police Department apprehended Bryant without incident.

Bryant was booked into the Candler County Jail.

Investigators with the Candler County Sheriff’s Office assisted with this investigation.

Metter, GA (March 7, 2025) - At the request of the Candler County Sheriff’s Office, GBI agents are investigating a shooting in Metter, GA.

Preliminary information indicates on March 6, 2025, at about 11:45 p.m., the Candler County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of Creekside Way in Metter, GA to reports of a home invasion. Law enforcement officers arrived on the scene and found two people with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a local hospital and are being treated for their injuries. They are both listed in stable condition.

This case is active and ongoing.
